A developer named Feli Reintgen posted footage of Quest games running on Windows through a thing called Android XR Bridge. Pinball FX VR at 4K per eye. Asgard’s Wrath 2 intro. People immediately started saying the quiet part. Batman: Arkham Shadow. Assassin’s Creed Nexus. The pile of games that were never supposed to leave a Quest.
This is not a Meta port. There is no Steam page. Feli says a release is coming soon and you still have to own the game on your Meta account. The stack is basically a Windows runtime that takes those Android VR builds and throws them at your PC GPU instead of the mobile chip in a Quest. One video claims the jump went from slideshow to a locked 120 at 4K per eye. I have not run it. I have watched the clips like everyone else.
For PCVR people this is the argument we have been having since Arkham Shadow launched as a Quest bundle and never came to Steam. We bought the PC. We bought the Index or the Beyond or whatever brick is on our desk. Meta kept the good single player stuff on their store. Now a random dev is showing those titles on a desktop GPU and the comments are feral in the way only headset people get feral.
I want this to be real and boring. Download, own the game, play it on the headset I already use for Half Life and Skyrim VR. That is the dream. Right now it is a demo reel and a Reddit thread. Treat it like that. Do not format a drive for a tool that is not public yet.
If it ships and it does not melt accounts, the PCVR library gets a whole shelf it was never allowed to have. If it stays a lab project, we still have the clip of Asgards Wrath 2 running off a PC, which is enough to ruin my evening in a good way.
I am keeping an eye on Feli’s posts. I am not selling a kidney for a closed Discord build. We have waited this long. We can wait until there is a file we can actually launch.
