CONVRGENCE hits 1.0 today on SteamVR. You can get it HERE.
If you have been around PCVR extraction shooters, you already know the pitch. Chernokamensk anomaly zone. Scavenge, customize guns, walk your dog, get out before night turns the map into something that hunts you. It has been compared to Into the Radius and old Metro/Stalker energy for two years because that is what it is aiming at.
It launched in Early Access in April 2024 at a lower price, sat in that familiar “solo dev keeps adding guns and maps” loop, and now the 1.0 patch is the one that is supposed to make it feel like a finished game instead of a weekend hobby that got out of hand. Main missions are reworked. There is an actual story wrap and voice acting. Graphics and difficulty options get a pass. Cloud saves and a new tutorial are in. Price has already moved up to $24.99.
Important practical note if you have hours in it: your gear, hideout, vehicle upgrades, and money carry over. Mission progress and reputation do not, because the quest line got rebuilt. That is the correct call and it will still make somebody mad. Extract shooters always do this.
This is a PCVR game in the old sense. Procedural-ish zone, inventory tension, audio that matters, a dog that you will get stupidly attached to, and a headset that is happier on a PC than on a standalone chip. 1.0 will not magically turn it into a studio production. It is still a small project. What 1.0 does is draw a line: the loop is no longer “we will add an ending later.”
If you bounced off Early Access because the story was a sketch, today is the first time the game is asking to be judged as a campaign. If you already liked the scavenging and the night-time dread, load in, check that your save actually migrated, and go get your stuff before dusk.
